Proof of Delivery Best Practices

At each delivery stop, drivers are asked to submit a Proof of Delivery (POD) photo to indicate a successful delivery. Here are our best practices on how to submit proper POD pictures.

At each delivery stop, drivers are asked to submit a Proof of Delivery (POD) photo to indicate a successful delivery. Below are our best practices on how to submit proper POD pictures:

  • Double check instructions. Unless otherwise instructed, all packages should be delivered to the customer’s front door (in multi-unit buildings, this should be the unit door, not the main front door). Please do not leave the packages outside a gate, in or top of a mailbox, or to the mailroom/lobby. If there is a unit number on the address, deliver the package to the unit number. If you have access issues, please contact Dispatch for assistance.

  • Capture relevant information. Proper PODs should contain the front doorway, the package itself, the house/unit number and address.

  • Submit multiple pictures. If you are unable to get both the package and address into one picture, submit multiple pictures.

  • Use lighting if necessary. If there isn't enough light, make sure flash is enabled on your camera.

  • Handing off to customers. If packages are handed directly to the customer, take a photo of the address/door where you handed off the package - include a note in the drop off that package was handed to the customer.

  • Save POD pictures when offline. If you do not have internet access and cannot submit POD pictures via the app, take pictures and save to your phone. You can also submit this to Dispatch to ensure you were at the stop for a successful delivery.

Examples of UNacceptable Proof of Delivery

  • POD pictures of the label of the box only
  • POD pictures with no location or address
  • Pictures from your car or inside the car will not be clear enough. Please make sure POD pictures are close enough.
  • POD pictures of any persons or body parts
